Scotland by the Stills
October 2019- In celebration of our 15 year anniversary, we went exploring Scotland’s finest distilleries!
A warm autumn welcome
Scotland invited us in was a day of bright sun! Our flight in Great Britain was smooth and accommodating, British Air performed at 5-stars! I even got an extra seat beside me that I could lay down in.
From Glasgow we drove to our Lodge in St. Fillans, Perthshire. It took a couple trips up and down the Main Street to find the narrow driveway, but we made it in before dark.
The daylight brought bright sun so we followed it to the northeast, ending up in the bustling town of Pitlochry. We arrived first to Edradour Distillery, which happened to be closed. The gate was open and the sweet smell of barley drew us in. We snapped off a couple great photos and conspicuously left. Next we checked out the dam and large fancy salmon fish ladder. Onto the distilleries! Blair Athol Distillery aroma was strictly different from the previous but showed strong with a loft tasting room. We ended the day with a stop at the Oldest Working Distillery in Scotland, Glenturret! They once had a cat that was 24 years old! Handsome cat, called a whole bunch of rodents. I loved the statue!

Islay
This small island is off the southwestern coast of Scotland, with a view of Northern Ireland to the South. It is the home of 7 active Scotch Distillery and some of the most beautiful and unique coastline I've ever seen.
We took a quick walk through an open cow pasture to a point of land. There sits the American Monument, a tribute to American war ships that sank off the coast during World War I.

Laphroaig
We also took a tour of the Laphroaig Distillery.

We rented the Oak Lodge in St. Fillians, Scotland for 7 nights through RCI.

The Crystal Year, 15. Not fancy cups but Earth’s powerful gems. Crystals form from unmistakable bounds of individual components. The coming together, the strength of the union. Crystals energize life, provide focus and clarity and harnesses the power of worlds unknown. Together, we are the crystal. Happy Anniversary, my love
